This unit exhibits qualities of a typical Single-Ended amplifier and, as such, is a perfect introduction to technology that started high-fidelity revolution. Once again Single-Ended amplifiers are becoming center of interest of the audiophile community. This amplifier helps explain why!
CONSTRUCTION: P2-SEPCL82 uses PCL82 audio tubes in the single-ended ultralinear configuration. Each channel has two tubes in parallel for increased output power and improved linearity. Steel chassis shields the amplifier from external interferences (Aluminum does not block magnetic fields). Gold plated terminals and ALPHA volume control typically belong to much higher priced equipment. Potted and shielded toroidal power transformer reduces harmful radiation and oversize output transformers (rated at 8W) ensure comfortable margin for strain-free operation. Nichicon and United (Nippon)- Chemicon capacitors are used in the power supply circuit and only one quality film capacitor (Thompson) is in the signal path. Professional quality double layer printed circuit board carries separate amplifier and power supply assemblies for reliable and interference free operation.

CONSTRUCTION: P8-HA1 is a hybrid headphone amplifier with four tube sockets that accept: (1) 12AX7 / ECC83 (2) 12AU7 / ECC82 (3) 12AT7 / ECC81 (4) 6DJ8 / ECC88 / E88CC The unit is designed as a test instrument for audible qualification of NOS tubes. Certain percentage of the tubes may be noisy or have low gain / higher distortion and this amplifier will help uncover bad apples. Besides being a lab instrument, possibility of tube rolling between four different types of commonly used preamp tubes, certainly has its own appeal.
A tube that is inserted acts as a preamplifier and its output is fed to a solid state headphone amplifier capable of driving headphones 8-600 ohms.
Robust power supply ensures safe operation even if two tubes are inserted simultaneously. There is no reason to do that, but the amp will still work.
